AGILITY CLASSES

All classes are "pay as you go."  Same fee schedule as 2009!  This eliminates the need for re-scheduling classes that may not be held due severe weather and offers you the option to skip an occasional class.  ALL classes are held OUTDOORS UNDER COVER.  You will be dry but be prepared for heat or cold.

Please pay attention to class dates.  All classes do not meet every week!

Session 1:  January to March, 2010

Session 2:  Late March through May 2010

Session 3:  June and July 2010

Each session is "stand-alone".  You must sign up for each session if you want to attend.  A sign-up day/time will be advertised for each session.  When a class fills, a wait list will be maintained for that class.

I will again maintain a waiting list for specific classes and notify those on the waiting list, on a weekly basis,  when a spot is available.  If you would like to be on the waiting list for a specific class, please contact me.

Course Descriptions

Intermediate boxwork:  Boxwork is essential to developing the skills for you and your dog to be able to trial successfully.  Emphasis on front and rear crosses, forward and lateral distance, and working serpentines, 270's, pinwheels, boxes, successfully.
Advanced boxwork:  No holds barred - the tougher sequences designed to give you and your dog the confidence to attack ANY course with successfully.
Competition Class:  A best of both worlds:  running courses but with boxwork off to the side so we can work the handling of the more difficult sequences to improve dog and handler understanding of the skills needed.

Beginning Agility:  The class that starts it all!  Introduction to the agility obstacles and groundwork needed for that all essential teamwork.

Intermediate Skills:  Dogs and handlers work on perfecting their obstacle performance skills.  Short sequences to work on contact performance, weave poles- entries and performance, table, tire, jumping.  For dogs that are ready for more than the beginning class, or are in a beginning boxwork class and need to continue work on obstacle skills; or ANY dog of any level that needs more frequent rewards, working on "issues"; or simply needs to work on obstacle skills in a class setting.

Seminar type classes (offered on a limited basis, usually during the summer)

Ground Work:  Open to all level dogs.  Teach your dog to go out, come in, return to your side, wrap tight, turn away from you, etc.  Bring a TOY you can THROW and/or throwable treat bag.
Discriminations:  Contact/tunnel discriminations, which tunnel entry, etc.   A "How to" class.
Boxwork for beginning dogs:  Learn front and rear crosses, learn the different components of a course, and how to have a consistent performance you and your dog can maintain.
Lead Outs:  Both forward and lateral. How to train and learning correct positioning for you and for the dog. NEEDED FOR CLASS: a STAY.
Weave Pole Entries:  Practice for those dogs who already know their weaves.
Advanced Boxwork:  serpentines, threadles, discriminations, weave pole entries etc in short, mostly jump sequences
Contact Obstacles:  Running contacts? 2 on, 2 off?  Teach your dog your preferred method and learn the fine points of maintaining criteria and rewarding correctly while also maintaining your dog's attitude and enthusiasm.
Weave Poles:  From initial teaching with the beginner dog, to speeding your dog up, proofing the weaves, working entries, etc.  All levels.
Running the course:  Not your typical running the course.  A course will be set up, but the focus will be on walking the course, your pre-run routine with your dog, how to reward at classes/show n go's etc to facilitate that good attitude you worked so hard for, and your post-run routine.  Open to dogs that can do all the obstacles.
